Troika Pushes Greek Banks to Bring Under the Auction Hammer 100,000 Properties

Troika Pushes Greek Banks to Bring Under the Auction Hammer 100,000 Properties

Does the big bang rolls with forceful violence towards Greece’s property owners? Are those who bought homes on loans and found themselves unable to meet their obligations at risk to be kicked out of the four walls and the ceiling, they used to call ‘their own’? The Troika apparently puts pressure on the banks to start foreclosures by the beginning of upcoming year and get rid of thousands of “bad loans” and real estate properties and mortgages. Target? To “drop prices in the Greek real estate market”. And for the shake of the creditors’ rescue, I would add.

According to daily TA NEA, the country’s lenders, the Troika, puts pressure on the banks to lift the ban on auctions even for small amounts with the aim to drop the prices in the Greek real estate market.

THE SATURDAY ESSAY: Forget the debate…Germany will have no choice but to leave the eurozone

THE SATURDAY ESSAY: Forget the debate…Germany will have no choice but to leave the eurozone

Merkel and Schäuble have the will to create a stronger eurozone – but not the means.

At the end of the last Slogpost about Germany, I closed with these words:

‘My source [the 'Bankfurt Maulwurf'] has always maintained that other forces in Germany will steer Merkel away from the rocks. He may well be proved right again. And the only way for her to go would be out of the euro….or a drastic reformulation of its membership. We should all watch out for the signals from Angela Merkel next week.’

As it happens, even before her return on Monday, the concerted leaking from Merkelania has begun. And it seems to me that the message this media-control campaign wishes to convey is, “Germany will walk away if necessary, so just watch it – or else”. The ‘threat’ if you will is that Germany will hold a referendum (on something or other to do with euro-integration, as yet unclear) and go with that decision. All very Pontius Pilate and politically convenient for the Fuhrerin.

Nigel Farage - They Will Collapse The System & Enslave People

Today MEP (Member European Parliament) Nigel Farage spoke with King World News about what he described as the possibility of, “a really dramatic banking collapse.” Farage also warned that central planners want to enslave and imprison people inside of a ‘New Order,’ and he described the situation as “horrifying.”

The Dispossessed Majority

The Dispossessed Majority
by Paul Craig Roberts

The bumper sticker on the beat-up pickup truck read: "Friends don't let friends vote Democrat."

The driver was obviously not affluent. Yet, despite all the news about mega-trillion dollarbankster bailouts, mega-million dollar bonuses for financial crooks and unimaginable compensation packages for corporate CEOs who have moved middle class jobs out of America, something made the down-and-out pickup truck driver associate with the political party of the super-rich.

As I wondered at this strange alliance of the dirt poor with the mega-rich, I remembered that in 2004 Thomas Frank wondered about how the Republicans had managed to convince the poor to vote against their best interests. Frank's answer, or part of his answer, is that the Republicans use "social issues," such as gay marriage and Janet Jackson's exposed nipple to work up indignation over the threat to moral values posed by liberal Democrats.

Keynesian and Austrian

Keynesian and Austrian

There are two kinds of economists in the Western world - Keynesian and Austrian. Almost exclusively, what is taught in American universities is Keynesianism - and virtually all the economists at the Federal Reserve, America's central bank, are Keynesians. In fact, pretty much every economist in the Western world is a Keynesian these days and the Austrian economists lead a very fringe existence.

A monk

As I arrive on sunny Mount Athos and step onto dry land from our boat, it feels like a blow for feminism.

This self-governed state is populated almost entirely by monks - and women are not allowed.

According to the Greek Orthodox monks, it has been this way for some 2000 years, since the time when the Virgin Mary stepped onto the shore and blessed the mountain that dominates this peninsula.

The U.S. and Its Comrade in Arms, Al Qaeda And other tales of an empire gone mad

The U.S. and Its Comrade in Arms, Al QaedaAnd other tales of an empire gone mad

by William Blum

Afghanistan in the 1980s and 90s … Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990s … Libya 2011 … Syria 2012 … In military conflicts in each of these countries the United States and al Qaeda (or one of its associates) have been on the same side.[1]

What does this tell us about the United States’ “War On Terrorism”?

Regime change has been the American goal on each occasion: overthrowing communists (or “communists”), Serbians, Slobodan Milosevic, Moammar Gaddafi, Bashar al-Assad … all heretics or infidels, all non-believers in the empire, all inconvenient to the empire.

Why, if the enemy is Islamic terrorism, has the United States invested so much blood and treasure against the PLO, Iraq, and Libya, and now Syria, all mideast secular governments?
